Our Client is seeking a contract Social Media Specialist to support strategic engagement efforts across multiple sustainability-focused initiatives. This part-time role requires approximately 25–30 hours per month and supports three different projects spanning Michigan, Washington, and national recycling efforts. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, experienced digital communicator who can craft compelling content strategies, drive audience engagement, and bring thoughtful social media insights to a mission-driven team. This is a remote position.
You Will:
- Develop and execute social media content calendars and campaigns tailored to each project’s goals and audience
- Create written and visual content based on established brand guidelines and messaging frameworks provided by the communications lead
- Follow internal review processes and post only approved content
- Drive content strategy to build brand awareness, increase engagement, and support campaign goals
- Track and report on platform performance metrics, including audience reach, engagement, and content impact
- Provide community engagement and monitor social platforms by responding to tags, mentions, and DMs using approved messaging
- Craft content across a range of formats, including static posts, videos, site promotions, newsletters, outreach campaigns, and internal communications
- Provide quarterly social media performance overviews and relevant trend insights, with occasional ad hoc reporting as needed
- Leverage social analytics tools to inform content improvements, optimize platform strategies, and influence engagement testing
- Attend virtual check-ins and collaborate closely with stakeholders, including clients, internal departments, and external vendors
- Stay current on social media trends, emerging platform behavior, and algorithm changes, particularly within sustainability and nonprofit sectors
- Work effectively within a limited monthly hour allocation to deliver maximum value across all supported initiatives
You Have:
- 4+ years of proven experience in social media management and digital marketing
- A successful track record of managing and growing online communities and brand engagement, particularly on LinkedIn and Facebook
- Experience supporting nonprofit, grant-funded, or mission-driven organizations, including incubators or sustainability programs
- A self-starting, organized, and highly motivated work style with the ability to juggle multiple projects independently
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for brand voice and messaging consistency
- Familiarity with Canva for graphic design and content creation
- Experience using tools like Kontentino for social scheduling and approvals is a plus
- Comfort presenting ideas, trends, or performance insights to clients or internal teams during virtual meetings
- Proficiency across key platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+, and Yelp
- Demonstrated excellence in social customer service and community interaction best practices
