Collective sensemaking startup

Hunome (Hunomics Ltd) is a collective sensemaking platform, helping humanity make sense of how the world works or should work. We are a remote and diverse team of 10+. We launched the web-based MVP in Q2 2021 with our Free Forever product. All in the team are working shareholders.

Our collective sensemaking product helps individuals, societal organizations and businesses build multidimensional shared understanding. We analyze and find patterns in the deliberation for our members and clients.

You would represent what many would call a great senior developer, you know what it means to be senior developer. You are someone who is definitely wanting and ready to make their mark in a startup, you care about what we are aiming to change in the world and you have the mindset to be consistent and persevere, deliver results. Otherwise it would be just another job. You will understand this well if you already have startup experience, this would be beneficial experience to have and highlight for us.

Having another job (best is if it is part-time also) that pays while we make Hunome into your dream company (contributing part-time). So, an immediately salaried 'job' is not what you are after with Hunome but leveraging your coding skills within a startup for the potential for massive return with success (shares first, later salary added once funded as we progress, together). We make it possible for you to take the first startup step in a part-time role as a working shareholder.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Full-Stack Developer who can architect, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using modern technologies. The ideal candidate should be passionate about clean code, best practices, and continuous learning. Our startup environment and plans for growth mean that there's lots to do and plenty of opportunity (including AI and machine learning) to make a difference, so you definitely won't be bored!

Technical Requirements & Experience

  • TypeScript/JavaScript expertise (5+ years)

  • Node.js & Express.js for backend development

  • React.js for frontend development

  • GraphQL API development and implementation

  • Database & Storage

  • PostgreSQL for relational data

  • Neo4j for graph database

  • Database design and optimization experience

  • Development & Operations

  • Git version control

  • Docker containerization

  • CI/CD pipeline experience

  • Azure/Cloud platforms expertise

  • Testing & Quality

  • Jest and React Testing Library

  • Unit and integration testing

  • Code review experience

Working conditions

  • Commitment of 20hrs per week on average in exchange for ownership in Hunome (Hunomics Ltd). Anything less in hours, consider this carefully, and you will be in constant catch-up mode with others covering for you. Serious roadmap, serious team, serious progress is what we need to be looking for together.
  • You need to attend certain meetings, but otherwise, you can be flexible in how you arrange the work.
  • A distributed and diverse team with many nationalities in it.
  • At the moment, we cannot be a sponsor of a work permit as we do not pay a salary until funded. If you wish to work in Finland, applicants should hold a work permit valid until end 2025.
  • We use English as a working language.

The deal

  • We have a team who can find their daily bread from different sources with ease, and their future potential with Hunome with the 20hrs per week. Best combination with this deal would be another part-time job that pays your salary.
  • Naturally, with the momentum we now build, we will seek funding, and as we secure that we will pay salaries.
  • Please note that if you are currently employed by a large IT-services firm your contract may exclude you from this deal.
  • This is part-time (20hrs) until we are funded, then full-time, with salary and holding onto the direct equity ownership in the company.
  • Not easy to combine this with a full time job already but not immediately closing you out either. Your success in this role depends on your startup ready mindset and stable life situation.
  • We do NOT want startup tourists, who are here one day and gone the next, joining for reasons that have nothing to do with wanting to build something successful and be a real contributor in that success.
  • We see that for example if you are in a part-time role elsewhere for salary and join Hunome for the other part-time role for ownership and longer term interests that works well.
  • You may have already done your career and now seek to apply your hard earned skills in something meaningful, exciting and with a potential for a larger return with shares.
  • Flexible timings for work with a few fixed elements as we deliver flexibility for all in the team.
