About us:

Yahoo Mail is the inbox for millions of people worldwide. From mobile apps to desktop, we help users stay organized and connected. With fast performance and intuitive tools, we’re making email more powerful and more delightful than ever.

Our Growth & Experimentation team focuses on discovering opportunities to improve how users sign up, return, and engage with Yahoo Mail. We use experiments and data to better understand user behavior and design experiences that meet people where they are, solve real problems, and support our business goals.

Who we’re looking for:

We're looking for an entry-level Product Designer who’s excited to learn and grow while contributing to a team that ships quickly and learns through iteration. In this role, you’ll help design experiments that improve how users discover, sign up for, and continue using Yahoo Mail. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to explore ideas, test solutions, and apply insights that move the needle.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, work on real impact-driven projects, and develop a strong product design skill set in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Product Designers at Yahoo collaborate with partners to define the vision for new features, while owning and driving the craftsmanship for every interaction and visual design detail. Day-to-day, you will:

  • Work with product managers, engineers, analysts, and researchers to explore and design new experiments
  • Create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity visuals to communicate your ideas
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and design critiques with your teammates
  • Build and refine design prototypes to test concepts and communicate intent
  • Support usability testing and learn from real user feedback
  • Use data to understand what’s working (or not) and improve designs over time
  • Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency across surfaces and align with our design system
  • Contribute to a culture of learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement

About you:

You're likely to succeed in this roll, if you are someone who:

  • Is excited by data and experimentation, and curious about how people use products
  • Has strong foundational skills in visual design, layout, and hierarchy
  • Can think through multi-step flows and user interactions with clarity
  • Is comfortable using Figma (or similar tools) to share and present your work
  • Enjoys collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams
  • Can take and apply feedback thoughtfully
  • Is motivated by impact, eager to learn, and open to trying new things

Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years of experience in product design (including internships, freelance, or academic work)
  • A portfolio that shows your design process, problem solving, and visual design skills
  • Experience designing for web or mobile platforms
  • Bonus: familiarity with A/B testing, working on growth teams, or designing for conversion or retention
  • Bonus: interest in content design, motion, data, or front-end tools

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
