Job Title: Remote Software Application Engineer (100% Work From Home)

Location: Remote from Latin America

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (3-month contract with potential for full-time conversion)

Salary: ~$3,300 - 4,100 USD/month ($40,000 - $50,000 USD/year)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, business hours with PST/MST time zone overlap required

Their proprietary system enables accurate, cost-effective animal tracking through a blend of classical computer vision, deep learning, and novel ID tagging technology. Their product integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure, allowing for large-scale deployment of smart cages. With their innovations, they aim to accelerate drug discovery, improve therapeutics, and enhance human health span.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Software Application Engineer to help build and maintain the infrastructure that powers the company's platform. This is a remote role with a 3-month contract and the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on performance.

As a Software Application Engineer, you will work on backend infrastructure, software maintenance, debugging, device configuration, and feature development. You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering team to ensure smooth operations and high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend software infrastructure.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot backend systems.
  • Implement and refine solutions using a variety of Python libraries.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on software development.
  • Suggest improvements to the product and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot software failures and implement fixes.

Note: The hired candidate will be subject to a 1 month probationary period to ensure they are the right fit for the company and are capable of perform the tasks.

Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies:

Must Have:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 1+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • OR Master’s degree with 6+ months of industry experience.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Python (scripting, debugging, and development).
  • Basic knowledge of Ubuntu, terminal usage, and Git.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Quick learner with adaptability to new tools and processes.
  • Initiative-driven and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Other:
  • Ability to work in California’s timezone (PST/MST overlap required).
  • Ability to commit to a 3-month contract.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with DevOps, PyTorch, Computer Vision, SQL, and AWS.
