Status: Permanent Full Time

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Software Developer to join our dynamic team in support of cutting-edge translational research in oncology and personalized medicine. You will work closely with clinicians, researchers, and software engineers to develop computational tools to analyze high-dimensional datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and clinical metadata. The ideal candidate will have experience working in multidisciplinary teams and translating bioinformatics insights into actionable research or clinical strategies.

Duties

  • Develop and implement R and Python software packages and applications for artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) workflows for the analysis of multimodal biomedical data.
  • Develop and maintain R and Python software applications/packages.
  • Proficiency in setting up and running data pipelines on Cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Amazon Web Services).
  • Leverage high-performance computing (HPC) environments for large-scale data processing and analysis.
  • Maintain and document code, pipelines, research data management, and results using version control and reproducible research practices.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation, presentations, and grant proposals.
  • Stay current with emerging tools and methodologies in bioinformatics, computational biology and AI/ML.
  • Collaborate with wet lab scientists, data scientists, and clinicians to support research and clinical projects.

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in computer science, software engineering, software development or Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python
  • Familiarity with workflow management tools (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow)
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub)
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and using HPC or cloud-based resources
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Organizational skills and analytical mind
  • Communicates effectively, clearly, concisely in written and verbal form in both technical and non-technical areas. Actively listens to others and ensures they are understood. Pay attention to nonverbal communication
  • Facilitates discussions within their team and encourages all team members to participate and contribute their thoughts

Preferred

  • Experience with cancer genomics or translational research
  • Experience with training in research data management
  • Familiarity with Bioconductor package development and maintenance
