About The Role
Autism Speaks is seeking a Social Media Manager to join our Marketing Communications team. This remote position is ideally suited for candidates located in Texas or those open to working remotely outside the region. The Social Media Manager will develop and implement strategic social media initiatives to grow and engage Autism Speaks’ online communities, with a particular focus on connecting with the Autistic community. The role requires creating compelling digital content, managing multiple platforms, and fostering meaningful engagement.
Responsibilities
- Manage Autism Speaks’ portfolio of social media channels including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Develop and execute innovative social media engagement strategies across platforms
- Curate and create content including videos, images, and articles with engaging copy and SEO optimization
- Collaborate with internal teams and global offices to align messaging and optimize digital content
- Discover and share user-generated stories from individuals across the autism spectrum
- Maintain a centralized database of community stories for strategic campaign use
- Support local staff social media efforts by coordinating best practices and providing guidance
- Monitor and respond to social media comments and messages to foster community support and engagement
- Track and analyze social media performance, identify trends, and provide insights for continuous improvement
- Identify and recommend emerging social platforms and digital trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, communications, or a related field
- 5 to 7+ years of experience engaging online Autistic communities
- Proven experience in community management or a similar social media role
- Proficiency with Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, and video editing tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong listening skills and ability to engage with diverse perspectives
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team player with problem-solving capabilities
