Job Title: Remote Architectural Designer (100% Work From Home)
Location: Remote from Latin America
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $2,000 USD/month
Schedule: Monday - Friday, business hours Central Time. May occasionally work extra, but we're also not worried if you take an afternoon off for a family event, etc.
Our Client:
Our client is a vertically integrated firm engaged in urban design, site planning, architecture, interior design, and construction. They focus primarily on urban projects at a human-scale density, including townhouses, small to medium mixed-use buildings, and single-family residences. We’re looking for someone who wants to see their work built—and who thrives in an environment where design and construction are closely connected.
Job Overview:
We’re seeking a versatile and motivated team member to support architectural drafting, interior design coordination, and construction management in an integrated design-build environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to every phase of exciting projects—from early site planning and concept development through the construction process itself.
The ideal applicant will have worked through the entire project lifecycle on multiple complex residential and commercial projects based in the United States (IBC and IRC codes and US construction methods). This position is more than a ‘remote drafting job’ – it interfaces directly with our in-house team on a variety of design and construction tasks, helping to bring projects to life. This team member will contribute to the architectural and interior design process, help manage drawing sets and specification schedules, and play an active role in construction phase coordination. We are a small business with cyclical project workloads, meaning there will be ‘seasons’ that require difference types of work. Depending on project needs, there will be times when this position is 100% drafting, or 90% take-offs and construction, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting architectural plans and details in AutoCAD in all design phases (SD, DD, CD).
- Supporting interior design tasks (e.g., paint and finish schedules, image boards, FF&E, fixture selections)
- Supporting construction tasks (e.g., quantity take-offs, submittal review, coordination with suppliers, construction administration).
- Maintaining organized drawing files and records.
- Thorough coordination and communication with consultants (Str., MEP, etc.), team members, and vendors.
- Contributing to a thoughtful, detail-oriented design process from concept to construction
- Generate transmittals, documents, and other deliverables under the direction of the PM.
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies:
Must-Have
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; this role would be responsible for putting together CD sets in AutoCAD independently, with oversight/redlining from lead architect.
- Strong understanding of orthographic drawing conventions (plan, section, elevation) and understanding of how these translate to built product.
- Experience working on projects with a very high level of interior and exterior finish.
- Solid understanding of conventional U.S. construction methods (wood framing in particular) and terminology, with the ability to accurately represent these in drawings. Understanding of basic millwork and envelope detailing principles.
- Basic (or better) familiarity with U.S. building codes (don’t need to know everything, but know how to look it up) (IBC, IRC, ADA).
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and organizational skills.
- Ability to consistently make well-reasoned independent decisions.
- Strong math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify discrepancies.
- Administrative excellence – punctual coordination, meticulous filing, etc.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage several tasks and projects simultaneously with consistent follow up.
- Conversational proficiency in spoken and written English (does not have to be perfect).
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-10 years of professional experience in architecture and/or design-build.
- Familiarity with brick masonry and/or traditional/classical architecture and its terminology.
- Good ‘eye’ and design sensibility – architecturally, and/or interior design.
- Professional experience in interior design (paint and finish schedules, image boards, FF&E, fixture selections).
- Experience in the construction field.
- Experience using SketchUp, Bluebeam Revu, and rendering platforms (Nscape, Lumion, etc.).
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit
- Architectural licensure or other relevant certification(s) in your jurisdiction
- Extensive experience coordinating with consultants (e.g., structural and MEP integration)
Please submit resume and example work.
- Example work may be a construction drawing set or portion thereof, or a short portfolio. Providing at a minimum 1 technical wall section drawing and 1 annotated floor plan drawing that you drew and annotated will be helpful. Interior-design focused candidates should submit representative work (image boards, etc).
- If able, please provide references from past employer and/or contractors you have worked with (from projects in the U.S. preferred but not necessary).
