What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

  • Execute all stages of interior book design for trade paperback and hardcover titles
  • Create original designs for titles across multiple imprints, genres, and formats
  • Prepare compositor instructions for new titles and provide specifications for reprint corrections
  • Correspond with compositors to address design queries and ensure target page count requirements are met
  • Review digital and hardcopy art to ensure compliance with printer specifications

What Is Required (Qualifications)

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in interior design for trade or academic books for Junior Designer; minimum 2 years for Designer level
  • Portfolio demonstrating understanding of typographical and page layout conventions
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign
  • General understanding of prepress and production technology for various printing methods
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
