About League One Volleyball (LOVB)

League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced “love”) is reimagining the sport of volleyball, and is the only professional league that has a youth-to-pro ecosystem. We believe in the power of sport to create better life outcomes for those who play it.

Launched in 2019, LOVB today has the largest youth volleyball community in the U.S., with over 14,000 youth athletes across twenty-six states. LOVB is launching its pro league in January 2025 from the grassroots up, built from its foundation of junior volleyball clubs and led by the world’s best professional players. The idea behind LOVB is championing athletes through their entire volleyball journey, from getting introduced to the sport and developing as youth players, to supporting their recruitment to college programs, to creating pathways for athletes to play professional volleyball here in the United States.

It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball, with record audiences viewing the college game, volleyball the #1 most played girls' U.S. youth team sport, and 38M current and former players across the country today. Through LOVB, we are focused on driving both participation in the sport and its fandom, while actively supporting youth and professional players. In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sport.

The Role

The Vice President, Pro Marketing will be responsible for the development and execution of LOVB’s brand strategy that drives awareness, engagement and affinity for LOVB Pro and its athletes, matches and merchandise. This leader will spearhead efforts to connect fans to LOVB’s teams and players, ensure LOVB remains at the forefront of the sports and entertainment landscape, and elevate our overall market presence. A critical aspect of this role is to strategically link marketing efforts across LOVB’s ecosystem—bridging the youth clubs business and the professional league—to foster holistic engagement, activation, and growth -- and supporting the growth of our LOVB pro teams within their local communities.

Responsibilities

Brand Strategy and Positioning

  • Develop and execute a long-term brand strategy that strengthens LOVB Pro’s position in the sports and entertainment landscape.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice, identity, and messaging across all platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance LOVB Pro’s brand equity and expand the LOVB’s national and global reach.

Marketing & Fan Engagement

  • Develop and execute high-impact marketing campaigns, including promotions, ticketing, advertising, tune-in, and partnerships, to drive traffic, engagement, and conversions.
  • Create integrated marketing strategies that activate and connect LOVB’s youth clubs business with the league, fostering a unified experience for fans and participants.
  • Develop creative and innovative campaigns to showcase athletes, teams, and league initiatives in partnership with the Content and Social teams.
  • Lead initiatives to introduce volleyball to new audiences, particularly through grassroots efforts and community-based programs, aimed at building and cultivating a loyal, diverse fanbase from the youth level through to professional league enthusiasts.
  • Collaborate closely with media partners, broadcasters, and digital platforms to amplify the league’s visibility.

Event and Game-Day Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing plans for LOVB Pro tentpole events, championships, and other special activations.
  • Support the event production team in enhancing in-game and in-venue experiences to drive attendance and fan engagement.
  • Ensure a cohesive and immersive brand presence across all league touchpoints.

Revenue Growth, Marketing Research & Insights

  • Conduct market research to ensure a thorough understanding of LOVB Pro’s customers, market trends, and competitive dynamics.
  • Lead strategies to sell ticketed products by leveraging data insights and analytics to optimize conversions.
  • Leverage data and insights to enhance fan experiences and optimize marketing performance.
  • Collaborate with Ticketing and Commercial teams to align marketing efforts with revenue goals.
  • Build and lead a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to achieve marketing and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing, preferably within sports, entertainment, media, or lifestyle industries.
  • Experience working for a sports league or professional sports team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Proven track record of leading successful brand campaigns and growing audience engagement.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content strategy.
  • Experience working with sponsorships, media partnerships, and fan engagement initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Located near one one of our pro cities is preferred, but not required (Omaha, Houston, Austin, Madison, Salt Lake City, Atlanta)

Compensation

The pay range listed reflects the pay range for this position. The annual base salary for this role is $200,000-220,000, plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. Individual pay is adjusted as performance is demonstrated and sustained at increasingly competent levels over time. With approval, experienced employees with critical skills may be hired above this guideline.
