About The Role
We are seeking a thoughtful and creative User Experience (UX) Designer to join our collaborative in-house Creative & Digital team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping intuitive, inclusive, and impactful user experiences across various digital platforms, primarily focusing on our energy efficiency utility websites and expanding consulting portfolio. Your responsibilities will include evolving and optimizing existing digital experiences, leading the UX vision for new website projects, and translating user needs into compelling design solutions that reflect our brand identity and support our organizational goals. You will work through all phases of the design process—from initial research and user discovery to high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes—ensuring that every digital touchpoint is user-centered, accessible, and aligned with industry best practices. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and empathetic problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, contributing to projects that promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in UX design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional UX design experience or a comparable combination of education and work experience.
- Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, with a strong preference for Figma.
- Demonstrated ability to design user-centered experiences informed by research, usability principles, and accessibility standards.
- Experience designing responsive, accessible, and inclusive interfaces for service-driven or public-facing websites.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA compliance) and inclusive design principles.
- Strong visual design sensibility, with attention to hierarchy, typography, and layout.
- Experience working with web content management systems (CMS) such as Craft CMS and Drupal is a plus.
- Familiarity with digital analytics tools (Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio) and project management tools (Jira, Monday.com) is advantageous.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams including developers, content strategists, and data specialists.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience or familiarity with energy, sustainability, or regulated industries is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitive analysis to gather insights and inform design decisions.
- Translate research findings into actionable design recommendations and strategic direction for digital projects.
- Identify and articulate user needs, pain points, and behaviors to enhance user experience and engagement.
- Facilitate collaborative discovery workshops with stakeholders to align project goals and user requirements.
- Develop user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize and test design concepts for both incremental improvements and new digital experiences.
- Create accessible, responsive, and intuitive interfaces that adhere to brand standards and design systems.
- Iterate on designs based on analytics, user feedback, and usability testing results to optimize user satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with visual designers, developers, content strategists, and other team members to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
- Support the translation of designs into functional websites, working with developers to ensure accuracy and responsiveness.
- Partner with internal teams to align UX solutions with technical infrastructure and system capabilities.
- Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders and internal teams, fostering understanding and buy-in.
- Provide ongoing UX support during quality assurance and post-launch reviews to refine usability and address edge cases.
- Design and integrate tools such as PowerBI, ArcGIS, and CMS platforms like Craft CMS and Drupal into digital experiences.
- Plan and conduct usability tests, analyze user behavior and analytics data, and synthesize findings into iterative design improvements.
- Maintain comprehensive design documentation, pattern libraries, and reusable components to ensure consistency across projects.
- Stay current with industry trends, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance team capabilities.
- Mentor peers, share insights, and foster a culture of innovative and user-centered design thinking.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and project success.

- Competitive salary range of $87,000 - $93,000, commensurate with experience and location.
