Oculus Studios and Beat Games are looking for Software Engineers to join our studio in Prague to help take Beat Saber to the next level.This is a key role in building the future of VR games and entertainment with the Beat Games team. This is a growing team of leaders in the VR industry at the cutting edge of where music and games come together. This role will help deliver new features, services, and improvements to Beat Saber across multiple VR platforms.Beat Games is an award-winning VR game studio based in Prague, Czech Republic. Our flagship title Beat Saber has sold over 4 million copies to date, defining interactive music across all genres and collaborating with some of the world's biggest artists such as Billie Eilish, Queen and Lady GaGa (to name a few).
Required Skills
Software Engineer, Multiplayer - Beat Games Responsibilities:
- Improve and extend our existing AWS based multiplayer solution
- Design and build new backend components within Beat Saber using PHP/Hack/ReactJS to meet game design requirements.
- Collaborate with gameplay engineers and game designers on new and existing game components.
- Own major areas of the codebase -- maintain improve code quality and stability.
- Participate in technical decisions by providing alternatives, specific opinions, as well as the reasoning behind those.
- Optimise various systems for best performance across platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in developing multiplayer games from concept to large amounts of users.
- Demonstrated experience in working independently with minimal outside supervision.
- Proficiency in object oriented programming, and component oriented architecture.
- Capacity to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible. To adapt plans and react to change in a diverse, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
- A habit of authoring clean, encapsulated, testable, and well documented code.
- Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle, including requirements definition, specifications, development, test, product release, and sustaining engineering.
