Position Summary:

The Senior Graphic Designer will play a key role in designing engaging content across digital and print platforms (including collateral, web, email, events, social and video) that aligns with our brand identity and marketing objectives.  The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, a passion for design, and the ability to bring ideas to life through captivating visuals in a dynamic, collaborative environment.  This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring hands-on design work as well as creative direction and collaboration with other teams.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Graphic Designer at Discovery Life Sciences:

  • Concept to Creation: Reviewing project briefs with marketing and cross-functional teams to translate business objectives into strategic, brand-aligned design concepts
  • Hands-On Design Work: Create web graphics, email visuals, social media posts, sales collateral, or trade show materials
  • Project & Brand Management: Use tools like Adobe Creative Suite to manage multiple design projects at once, while keeping track of deadlines

Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

  • *REQUIRED*: Strong portfolio demonstrating a high degree of creativity and experience designing thoughtful and innovative solutions across different mediums.  Please provide a link or include as an attachment to application
  • Bachelor’s degree in related marketing, communications, or event management equivalent field.
  • BA/BS in Graphic Design or related design experience and training
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience preferably in-house or agency in the life science industry
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to both lead (define creative strategy and direction) and execute (develop and iterate on designs)
  • Experience interfacing directly with stakeholders to understand and translate business objectives into design deliverables.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with an ability to deliver projects and tasks efficiently and in alignment with project briefs.
  • Expertise in relevant design applications & creative software (Adobe CS, Sketch, Figma, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices and project management tools (i.e., Basecamp, Monday, etc.)
  • Preferred experience with WordPress website design, development, and management, including custom theme frameworks and intermediate HTML/Javascript/CSS skills.
  • Experience in social media content development, social graphics preferred.
  • Knowledge of video editing, interactive design, and motion graphics will be a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Strategy and Direction: Able to provide creative recommendations with confidence and founded in good design and UX best practices.
  • Ideation to Production: Lead design development from project kickoff to final delivery, including research, ideation, and production.  Provide creative strategy and direction.
  • Design and Develop: Create a wide range of assets, including website and social media graphics, infographics, banners, icons, videos, email assets, sales collateral, tradeshow booth graphics, and more.
  • Ideation to Production: Lead design development from project kickoff to final delivery, including research, ideation, and production.
  • Collaborate: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver designs that meet strategic objectives.
  • Iterate and Refine: Revise and edit designs based on feedback to align with project requirements and enhance visual impact.
  • Stay Updated: Keep up to date with the latest design trends, software, and industry best practices to keep our designs innovative and competitive.
  • Project Management: Utilize strong project management skills to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritizing efforts and achieving established project timelines.
  • Brand Alignment: Develop and maintain brand identity guidelines and ensure consistency and coherence across all creative projects and design outputs.

Compensation and Benefits:

Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. The base pay range for this position is $73,000 - $90,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to your qualifications, skills, and experience.

Location and work hours:

  • Remote or Hybrid option (in the Boston, MA or Huntsville, AL area)
  • Less than 5% domestic and international travel
