About The Role

Maxar is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for candidates with deep expertise in Java, Rust, and front-end development using React and TypeScript. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services and modern, secure front-end applications that support our mission to enhance air and maritime domain awareness. Working closely with data scientists and mission partners, you will contribute to the ongoing research and development of analytics pipelines that identify suspicious activities in sensitive domains, supporting national security efforts. This position requires a candidate who is eligible for or currently holds a Top Secret clearance or CBP suitability, and who is comfortable working remotely with a team dedicated to solving complex intelligence problems through iterative prototyping and feedback.

Qualifications

• Current Top Secret security clearance and/or CBP suitability
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or 8+ years of professional experience in programming, design, and development in lieu of degree)
• Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated professional experience in software development
• Strong proficiency in Java and production-level Rust development
• Solid experience with React, TypeScript, and modern front-end architecture
• Proven track record of delivering full-stack applications in a production environment
• Deep understanding of software design principles, distributed systems, and API development
• Excellent testing and debugging skills for both front-end and back-end components
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack
• Knowledge of DevOps workflows including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with low-latency, streaming data processing technologies like Apache Kafka and Apache Flink
• Proficiency in SQL database development and design, particularly PostgreSQL and Apache Iceberg
• Willingness to work remotely and communicate effectively via video calls
• Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for applying innovative technologies to national security

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Rust
• Build modern, responsive, and secure front-end applications utilizing React and TypeScript
• Support compliance with federal information assurance and software development standards
• Collaborate with data scientists and mission partners to refine analytics pipelines and analytical models
• Participate in code reviews, paired programming, and mentorship activities to foster team growth
• Contribute to the ongoing research and development of low-latency data processing solutions
• Maintain and enhance existing custom applications supporting mission objectives
• Implement and support cloud-based solutions, ensuring high availability and security
• Develop and support streaming data solutions using Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or similar technologies
• Design and optimize SQL databases for high performance and reliability
• Engage in iterative prototyping, feedback, and continuous improvement of software products
