Position Overview
Danimer Scientific is a leader in sustainable and biodegradable materials. To fuel our global growth ambitions and sustainability mission, we are seeking a visionary Director of Global Strategic Marketing. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing a world-class global marketing strategy that aligns with Danimer’s purpose of advancing sustainable materials and reducing plastic pollution.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Leader, this position will work cross-functionally with commercial, R&D, business unit, and corporate leadership teams. The director will be a core member of the leadership team with a mandate to shape our long-term growth trajectory, drive competitive positioning, and lead a high-performing marketing organization globally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Develop and champion a comprehensive global market strategy that identifies and prioritizes high-value growth opportunities aligned with Danimer’s sustainability objectives.
- Provide a strategic view of market dynamics, emerging needs, and competitive shifts to shape Danimer’s global roadmap and innovation agenda.
Market Intelligence & Opportunity Mapping
- Conduct high-level assessments of global markets, customer segments, geographies, and competition to define “where to play” and advise on “how to win.”
- Monitor industry megatrends such as decarbonization, circular economy, regulatory evolution, and shifting consumer preferences to inform portfolio and investment decisions.
Innovation and Growth Enablement
- Partner with R&D, product development, and business unit leaders to guide new product pipelines and commercialization plans.
- Drive market-led innovation by translating insights from customers, stakeholders, and value chain partners into actionable business strategies.
Go-To-Market Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development of go-to-market frameworks and support execution through commercial teams across regions.
- Provide marketing leadership on pricing strategy, channel management, branding, and positioning.
Brand Development & Communication
- Lead the brand marketing and outbound marketing functions, shaping Danimer’s brand identity globally and enhancing its reputation as a sustainability leader.
- Oversee global digital and content marketing strategies to amplify reach, thought leadership, and customer engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years in strategic marketing roles, with at least 5 years in a global capacity.
- 5+ years in leadership roles across marketing, business development, or commercial functions.
- Prior experience in specialty materials, bioplastics, life sciences, chemicals, or adjacent B2B industries strongly preferred.
- Proven experience working across the Americas, Europe, and Asia with cross-regional and multicultural teams.
Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in market segmentation, value mapping, voice of customer, competitive analysis, customer journey, and opportunity sizing.
- Strong leadership through influence, with the ability to align stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to manage complex strategic initiatives from concept to execution.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and storytelling skills, with a focus on impact and clarity.
- Strategic mindset with operational discipline and a track record of driving business growth.
- High integrity and commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Marketing, or related field required.
- MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
Travel
- Up to 20% international and domestic travel required.
