Lightsout Studio is a digital product design studio that helps high-growth DTC brands craft websites and applications that don’t just look good — they convert. We've worked with category-defining names across wellness, lifestyle, fashion, and tech — helping them scale faster through UX clarity, UI precision, and CRO-driven design.
We’re now looking for a Creative Director / Design Director to lead our growing design team, elevate our creative output, and ensure every product we ship aligns with both business outcomes and brand storytelling.
What You’ll Do****🧠 Lead Projects, End to End
- Own multiple client engagements from kickoff to launch, working closely with founders and marketing teams.
- Shape the creative vision across projects and maintain consistency of quality, detail, and design systems.
- Collaborate with developers and project managers to bring high-performing websites and apps to life.
🎨 Set the Art Direction
- Define the mood, visual language, and identity expression for each brand we work with.
- Build and guide visual narratives that align with strategy and positioning.
- Translate brand goals into distinct, recognizable product aesthetics.
🔍 Own UX Strategy
- Lead user experience direction with wireframes, flows, and architecture that simplify and convert.
- Use research, heuristics, and analytics to solve real business problems through design.
- Apply a CRO mindset to web and mobile experiences — especially for eCommerce platforms.
💻 Drive Visual and UI Execution
- Oversee the creation of responsive interfaces that are both functional and delightful.
- Ensure usability, accessibility, and consistency across design systems and screens.
- Support hands-on UI design work when needed — from Shopify storefronts to mobile app UIs.
🤝 Mentor & Communicate
- Manage and mentor a team of designers across levels.
- Lead client presentations with confidence, explaining the why behind every design choice.
- Foster a feedback culture that prioritizes iteration, clarity, and attention to detail.
What You Bring****Perspective
- A strong design POV that blends creative thinking with business context.
- Deep appreciation for storytelling, branding, and product usability.
- A refined portfolio that shows your range — from brand expression to high-fidelity execution.
Experience
- 5+ years in digital product design, with at least 2 in a leadership or senior creative role.
- Proven experience working across Shopify, mobile apps, and brand websites.
- Hands-on experience with tools like Figma, Adobe CC, and prototyping platforms.
- Comfort working with tools and apps in the Shopify ecosystem — Klaviyo, Recharge, Intelligems, etc.

- Curiosity and willingness to learn, challenge norms, and raise the bar.
- Team-first approach with strong mentoring instincts and great taste.
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in branding or marketing
- Familiarity with motion, 3D, or micro-interaction design
- Experience with performance-based design or A/B testing (CRO)
