Character Designer

About the Role

An aspiring young author is looking for an illustrator to create a vibrant and animated book cover for her upcoming story. The artwork should depict four joyful 12-year-old girls standing in a lush Garden of Eden scene, complete with vivid greenery and a waterfall in the background. Each character has distinct features and must be drawn to match a detailed description. The illustration style should resemble that of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, with expressive characters and a polished, storybook-like aesthetic. A sample image has been provided for reference. This is a one-time project, completed remotely.

Requirements

• Ability to illustrate in a polished, animated style similar to Keeper of the Lost Cities artwork
• Strong skills in character design with attention to individual facial features, hairstyles, and skin tones
• Experience in fantasy or storybook-style background illustration, including natural elements like gardens and waterfalls
• Must depict the following characters accurately:
• Girl 1: Wavy light brown hair with blonde highlights, green eyes, light freckles, light skin
• Girl 2 & 3 (twins): Wavy blond hair, blue eyes, tanned skin
• Girl 4: Brown hair, hazel eyes, light brown skin
• All four girls must appear happy and be positioned together in the garden setting
• Final artwork will be used as a book cover and must be delivered in high-resolution format
• Open to junior-level illustrators who are passionate about storytelling through art
• Remote work with communication suitable for working with a young author and her guardian
