They should also be able to travel regularly throughout the region, as it is a requirement for the position. The role is reporting to the Company’s corporate office located in The Colony, Texas.

Job Summary:

The Brand Manager will serve as a key member of the sales team, contributing to the strategic direction of the brand’s internal and external relationships. This role contributes to volume, profit, and share growth by driving distribution and availability across all account channels while developing and executing a net sales and margin strategy at accounts focusing on the Yumi portfolio for the brand represented.

This individual must proactively partner/collaborate with internal Yumi personnel and Yumi manufacture resources that influence and help drive the execution of the retailer’s plan while assisting with budget management to maximize results and return on investment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analysis - Responsible for ongoing analysis supporting brand and overall business initiatives. Use brand, industry, internal, and consumer information resources to identify business issues and opportunities and to develop strategic programming to achieve brand goals. Provide a timely and comprehensive analysis of objectives, execution, and future planning implications. Develop implications and program recommendations.
  • Project Management - Lead and manage designated brand initiatives. Develop objectives, spearhead programs across multiple groups, develop and communicate all consumer and field materials, and manage agency execution. Partner in all aspects of brand, including advertising, point of sale, local programs, national account meeting planning, and promotion development.
  • Consumer Expert - Ability to take consumer insights and translate them into actionable consumer-driven marketing plans. Understand and communicate the brand's unique selling propositions to key stakeholders, internal executive team, field sales, national and regional accounts, retailers, and consumers. Ensure trademark consistency in all communications.
  • Education Channels – Drive outbound sales efforts targeting K-12 schools across public, private, and charter sectors while identifying and pursuing RFP opportunities. Manage the whole RFP response process and maintain a strong sales pipeline through proactive outreach and networking. Represent the organization at industry events and explore growth in adjacent verticals, including higher education, senior care, and healthcare.
  • Business Planning and Budgeting – Partner with manufactures in development and then communicate marketing plans. This includes consumer strategy, creative local program development, and national sales meeting presentations. Coordinate with finance and manufactures to research and adjust inappropriate budget entries.
  • System Communication - Communicate with the DSD field sales, national/regional accounts, and retailers to secure market approach, manage in-market activities, research/report on local market conditions, and implement programs.
  • Route-to-Market Emphasis – Gain a solid understanding of the direct-to-store delivery system employed by Yumi to get our World-Class brands onto the retailers’ shelves with flawless execution.
  • Managing Work- Effectively manages one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
  • Sales Negotiation- Effectively explores alternatives and positions to reach mutually beneficial sales agreements that
  • gain customers’ acceptance and commitment.
  • Risk Taking- Initiates action that tries to achieve a recognized benefit or advantage when potential negative consequences are understood, keeping in mind calculated risks by gathering information to understand the probability of success, the benefits of success, and the consequences of failure.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. When not in the office environment, this role will be spent in the field at customer accounts in convenience stores and grocery stores. Hotels etc. Subject to traffic hazards while operating a personal vehicle.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking: Constantly, while performing duties in customer locations; walking, up to 1-2 miles per shift on concrete or tiled surfaces.

  • Sitting: Occasionally (20%), while operating a personal vehicle between customer locations, can be subject to heavy traffic.

  • Push/Pull: Occasionally, using both hands and arms while moving materials via a wheeled cart.

  • Bending/Twisting at the waist.

  • Kneeling/Crouching.

  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of both hands/arms throughout the work day while forward reaching, handling, gripping, power grasping, and fingering, and above shoulder reaching.

  • Sight/Hearing/Speech: Constantly, required to ensure safe operation of vehicle, and performing essential functions at customer locations.

  • Lifting, bending, stretching, standing, reaching, and climbing are required on an ongoing basis.

  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds with or without assistance.

Travel:

  • Must be able to travel in the marketplace, meeting with customers.
  • Must be able to travel in the field with the Territory Sales Managers and District Sales Managers, training on the allied brands.
  • Must be able to travel in the Market Place with Directors and Brand Representatives.
  • Must be able to attend and fully participate in sales and team meetings with the possibility of overnight stays.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3 years of DSD consumer products experience.
  • 2 years K12 experience with proven ability to develop proposals and manage contract renewals.
  • 2 years experience using IRI, Nielsen, or other syndicated data.
  • 5 years experience using MS Office products (PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel).
  • Ability to understand and explain analytical reports.
  • Ability to learn and understand data and its uses for the assigned product line of responsibility.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
  • Must have a valid Class C Drivers License with a dependable vehicle and proof of automobile insurance coverage.
  • Successful completion of post-offer background check, MVR, drug screen, physical, and physical abilities test.
  • Willing to work over 40 hours when required.
  • Willing to work weekends and Holidays if needed.
  • Ability to practice safe working habits.
