Company/Client Overview:

Symmtrex is an innovative cold form steel manufacturer with 5–7 years in operation, currently entering an exciting new phase of growth. With a patented system and pre-manufactured steel panels, studs, and trusses, the company is revolutionizing how steel is used in construction. While well-established in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, this system is still emerging in the U.S.—making this a high-opportunity role for the right candidate.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a mid to senior-level BIM Designer with experience in StrucSoft MWF (Metal Wood Framing), ideally with a background in cold-form steel construction. You’ll support a range of projects—from tiny homes to 100,000 sq ft residential and commercial buildings—producing high-quality BIM models, shop drawings, and CNC files. This is a remote, full-time role reporting directly to Austin Porter, and will collaborate closely with engineers and the sales team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 3D/4D/5D BIM models using StrucSoft MWF and other BIM tools
  • Produce shop drawings, assembly instructions, engineering documents, and CNC output
  • Work on a mix of new and existing models based on project needs
  • Interpret and apply American building code standards (preferred but not required)
  • Coordinate internally with engineering and sales teams for project planning and execution
  • Maintain high standards for model accuracy, consistency, and file organization
  • Stay up to date with advancements in BIM workflows and tools
  • Bring a self-starter mindset to solve challenges creatively and efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on BIM experience, ideally with StrucSoft MWF
  • Experience in cold-form steel modeling is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with BIM software (e.g., Revit) and production of shop drawings
  • Familiarity with 4D/5D modeling and CNC file creation
  • Background in architecture, engineering, or construction (degree preferred, not required)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and workflows
  • Parametric modeling knowledge (e.g., Dynamo, Grasshopper) is a plus

Client Screening Process

  1. Client Interview
  2. Technical Assessment (tentative)
