Mercor is seeking experienced Blender Tool experts to join a cutting-edge AI research project in partnership with a leading research lab. This role centers on evaluating how effectively a large language model (LLM) assists in 3D modeling, animation, and rendering tasks using Blender, and on developing high-quality Blender projects to train and improve the model’s performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-assisted Blender modeling, animation, or scene setup outputs.
- Rebuild or enhance Blender projects to validate and benchmark LLM-generated work.
- Identify and address limitations in automated 3D workflows, collaborating closely with AI researchers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to modeling, rigging, shading, and rendering.
- Document evaluation results and provide detailed feedback to improve future model performance.
You’re a strong fit if you have:
- Solid hands-on experience with Blender for 3D modeling, animation, or scene creation.
- Deep understanding of Blender’s tools, workflows, and node systems (e.g., geometry nodes, shader nodes).
- Familiarity with Python scripting in Blender or experience with procedural workflows (a plus).
- Interest in AI/LLM-assisted creative tooling (preferred but not required).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Clear communication skills and experience in distributed, remote teams.
Role Details:
- Part-time with fully flexible hours.
- 100% remote and asynchronous—work at your convenience.
Compensation & Legal:
- Hourly contractor role via Mercor.
- Payments processed weekly through Stripe Connect.
Note:
Only candidates who have access to a Mac system and are available to work with it for the project will be considered, as the tooling you would be working with is only Mac-compatible
