Job Description
Braintrust Overview: Braintrust (braintrust.com) is a rapidly growing platform transforming the hiring process with AI technology. We recently launched Braintrust AIR, the world’s first AI recruiter that automates candidate interviews and screening. Braintrust AIR leverages AI-powered interviews to help companies hire faster, reducing costs, eliminating bias, and identifying top talent quickly. We are a remote-first company, and our design language is modern, clean, and aligned with the sleek aesthetic visible on our website. We value innovation, speed, and user-centric design in building our SaaS recruitment products.
Role Overview
We are seeking a UI/UX Designer (Mid-to-Senior level) to take ownership of all UI/UX design at Braintrust. In this full-time or contract role, you will play a key role in driving the user experience and interface of Braintrust AIR and related products. You’ll work fully remote and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams – in particular, partnering with our Sales team to rapidly iterate on new product features and client feedback. Your mission is to conceptualize and design new features for our AI recruiting platform in a fast-paced environment, maintaining consistency with Braintrust’s existing design language. You should be fluent in the latest AI-enhanced design tools (within Figma, as well as plugins like UX Pilot and Google Stitch) to supercharge your workflow. This role requires someone who can move quickly from idea to high-fidelity design, using AI to accelerate iteration while ensuring designs are polished and developer-ready for handoff.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications And Skills
Experience: Mid-to-senior level experience (approximately 4+ years) as a UI/UX or Product Designer, with a strong portfolio of SaaS product designs. Experience designing complex web applications or dashboards is required; experience in HR tech, recruiting, or enterprise tools is a plus. You should have a track record of designing intuitive, data-rich interfaces that balance form and function.
UI/UX Expertise: Solid knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability, and interaction design. Ability to conduct basic user research or interpret feedback to inform design decisions. You can create journey maps, wireframes, and polished UIs, all while thinking through edge cases and error states. A mobile-responsive design mindset is important, as our platform may be used across devices.
Mastery of Design Tools: Expert proficiency in Figma for interface design and prototyping. You are also fluent in the latest AI-driven design tools and Figma plugins:
Figma’s AI features: Comfortable using any new Figma AI integrations (for example, generating initial layouts or copy with AI) to explore design options quickly.
UX Pilot: Hands-on experience with UX Pilot (or similar AI design assistants) to speed up creating wireframes/UI designs. UX Pilot integrates with Figma and uses AI to generate designs, helping designers create better experiences in less time. You should know how to prompt and refine outputs from such tools.
Google Stitch: Familiarity with Google’s new Stitch tool for AI-generated UI. Stitch can produce multi-screen UI designs from text prompts and even front-end code rapidly. While still emerging, being able to leverage Stitch (and assess its outputs critically) will set you apart.
Other Tools: Knowledge of additional AI/automation tools (e.g., Uizard, Galileo AI, Midjourney for generative visuals, etc.) is a bonus. Traditional design software (Adobe CC, Sketch) familiarity is fine, but Figma is our main workspace.
Rapid Iteration & Agile Mindset: Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment. Comfortable ideating and iterating quickly – you can go from concept to prototype in hours, not days, when needed. Familiar with agile product development and methodologies like Lean UX that emphasize continual refinement through feedback. You can manage your time to juggle quick turnarounds with thoughtful design.
Attention to Detail: Keen eye for visual detail and consistency. Able to uphold a high quality bar even when moving fast. You ensure spacing, alignment, and behavior of components are pixel-perfect and meet accessibility standards (e.g., proper contrast, keyboard navigation considerations).
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills in a remote setting. You can clearly articulate design rationale and trade-offs to non-designers. Experience collaborating with engineers is essential – you understand technical constraints and adapt designs accordingly. You should be self-driven but also adept at gathering input from team members (sales, product, engineering) and sometimes from end-users to inform your designs.
Adaptability and Learning: Enthusiasm for learning and adopting new tools or techniques. The design and AI landscape evolves quickly (for instance, new Figma plugins or AI capabilities are emerging frequently), and we need someone who stays ahead of the curve. You are open-minded about incorporating AI into your workflow to improve efficiency, while always critically evaluating its output to meet high UX standards.
