Description

Our team develops custom maps using. There is a javascript framework called Deck.Gl that is much more customizable and efficient. The goal of this resource is to move our production resources away from CARTO proper and onto a custom Deck.GL application. Our customer facing applications will now be much more customizable allowing us to follow best practices. Additionally, Deck.GL apps allow our apps to be more efficient in terms of rendering applications saving us on compute costs.

The product is in staging at the moment but to get to production we need this resource to develop the customized version of the app in Deck.GL. Key deliverables include fully working Deck.gl supported application show casing Outages based off of shapefiles and/or other geospatial formats.

Responsibility

  • Work with the team to translate work into pixel perfect HTML/CSS/JS
  • Help manage projects through the design, development and QA
  • Work with a variety of CMS and ecommerce systems and framework
  • Codes software applications to adhere to designs supporting internal business requirements or external customers
  • Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software
  • Oversees testing and develops fixes
  • Work on progressive redesign and maintenance projects that have an immediate impact on how our customers experience our brand every day
  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end
  • Participate in code review
  • Enable and configure all necessary plugins to power the site’s functionality
  • Identifying blockers and applying creative solutions within company guidelines
  • Staying on top of current trends in web development
  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications using deck.gl for data visualization.
  • Design and implement front-end and back-end architecture.
  • Integrate databases, services, and APIs.
  • Optimize client-facing and server-side performance.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality.
  • Collaborate with product managers and other developers to ideate software solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software.
  • Ensure responsiveness and efficiency of applications.
  • Create security and data protection settings.
  • Write technical documentation

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • The team is part of the Mobile team and they are developing a couple mapping applications. They use a tool called CARTO (data visualization), this tool is not customizable for the need with the projects. They will do deck GL and web GL. They need to be able to help an existing dev team and add in that capability
  • Day to day: collaborate with other engineers to develop this full stack application where their focus is on the front end of maps. They will take the dataset from the backend and create a map on the front end
  • This person needs to have experience working on mapping software's
