Software Engineer II (Entry Level) (Remote)

Job_Summary:

NBCUniversal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies. They are seeking a Software Engineer II to work on systems and services critical to Fandango and Sports Next businesses, collaborating with a talented team to deliver high-quality software and user experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, test, deploy, and maintain software and services in accordance with established SDLC practices for applications/APIs written in C#/node.js
• Perform critical code reviews and collaborate with peers on software solutions
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Quality Engineers to deliver high quality, high profile software and user experiences
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, retros, sprint planning, etc.)
• Contribute to design and implementation planning
• Troubleshoot issues on local and remote systems

Qualifications:

-Required:

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years of professional experience as a software engineer working in a back end or full-stack capacity
• A strong understanding of software design patterns, development practices and principles
• 1+ year of professional experience in one or more of the following programming languages: JavaScript/Node, C#/.NET, Java
• Experience working and coding with relational databases
• Experience working with version control systems (Git or similar)
• Working knowledge of common networking, infrastructure, and technical security fundamentals

-Preferred:

• Experience developing consumer-facing software, especially at scale
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Experience with a variety of data stores: Document databases, columnar data stores, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.
• Experience with cloud technologies and serverless applications (AWS, GCP, Azure or similar)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and/or service-oriented architectures
• Familiarity with software build, release, deployment, and monitoring tools and practices
