Job Title: Software Engineer I (Backend)

Are you interested in pushing the boundaries of the game industry? Do you like working at the cutting edge of technology and creating experiences that will touch millions of gamers on PlayStation? PlayStation Network currently has over 100 million monthly active users. We have a phenomenal opportunity to engage and delight our customers at scale!

As a member of our engineering team, you will craft and develop cloud-based network software services and tools for the PlayStation and other applications/devices. You will also have the opportunity to grow into a full-stack role and work on front-end web applications. Strong technical background and analytical thinking is expected. You will work alongside team members in engineering, product, design, and research to build phenomenal experiences for customers and creators around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain RESTful web services APIs
  • Integrations with third-party APIs
  • Proactively identify, replicate, and resolve backend issues in both test and live environments to maintain high-quality service
  • Work with team members to deliver features on time, respond to evolving requirements, and strategic shifts in direction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in building and consuming RESTful services
  • Experience with Java (or other server-side languages)
  • Experience with NoSQL database technologies
  • Experience with version control tools (Git)

Helpful But Not Required

  • Front-end development experience (Javascript, React)
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (Grafana, AWS CloudWatch)
  • Experience with CICD tools (Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development methodology
