About The Role
We're looking for an experienced email and push marketer to optimize our CRM efforts as part of our Shop Marketing team. This is a team that is focused on getting users into the Shop app where they can discover and purchase from a wide variety of Shopify merchants.
You'll be joining a team of driven crafters who are committed to pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and thriving on change and chaos. We don't operate on a lot of processes, but we do trade on impact. That means you need to care deeply about what you're doing and be committed to continuously developing your craft.
As a CRM Manager on the Shop Marketing team, you'll be responsible for leveraging communication channels (email, push, etc.) to drive Shop users to key shopping moments and new product offerings. You’ll implement journeys, A/B tests, and conversion rate optimizations to drive measurable growth against product and customer level KPIs. You'll also obsess about the customer lifecycle, conducting analyses to better understand the Shop user lifecycle.
We're not just building products for the short-term, we're building products for the long-term to make an impact on the world. That requires an unrelenting pace and resilience to navigate ambiguity. If you're seeking hypergrowth, can solve complex problems, and can thrive on change (and a bit of chaos), then you've found the right place. We're looking for independent thinkers who seek growth, care deeply, but can also accept the bigger picture.
Responsibilities:
- Develop strategy and lead implementation of ad-hoc communications to activate new Shop users, engage existing shop users, and re-activate churned Shop users - turning browsers into buyers
- Execute on end to end seasonal campaigns, led by brand marketing, and product launch go-to-market campaigns, led by product marketing
- Build emails using a mix of pre-built components, Liquid, and HTML where needed (experience building custom HTML emails from scratch strongly preferred).
- Monitor the performance of existing campaigns and collaborate with cross-functional experts to troubleshoot as needed
- Identify opportunities for new campaigns across all stages of the customer journey and in alignment with the product roadmap
- Manage a pipeline of CRM-related experiments to continuously improve key metrics
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, aligning email and push campaign objectives with overall marketing strategies and providing valuable insights for mutual success
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices and legal regulations, and emerging technologies to propose innovative strategies and drive continuous improvements in CRM efforts
- Ensure CRM campaigns are seamlessly integrated with the core product experience, making communications feel like a natural extension of Shop
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a high-growth or startup environment, specifically within CRM
- Proven ability to drive measurable results via CRM (email and push), ideally for an e-commerce, DTC, or marketplace-type business
- A strategic marketing mind with a solid understanding of multiple growth marketing channels (outside of just CRM)
- Proven track record of successfully leading ambiguous, cross-functional projects in a highly matrixed environment, with the ability to navigate and coordinate with various teams to achieve project objectives
- Passionate about generating actionable insights from A/B tests and large unstructured datasets (intermediate-level knowledge of SQL required)
- Ability to independently build, manage and troubleshoot email and push campaigns using a combination of HTML, Liquid, CSS, APIs and conditional logic (intermediate to advanced level Liquid knowledge required)
- Ability to blend an analytical, data-driven approach to problem-solving with empathy for users, creativity in strategy formulation, and strong communication skills to share your vision with stakeholders and secure buy-in
- Experience consulting with product, sales, and product marketing teams on growth strategies to drive their respective product lines
- Growth mindset with a proactive and self-sufficient approach to learning and problem-solving and a high comfort level with working independently. If you don’t know how to do it, you'll figure it out.
About Shopify
Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.
This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.
About You
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
- Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
- Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
- Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
- Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
- Bring critical thought and opinion
- Use AI tools reflexively as part of your fundamental workflow
- Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
- Work digital-first for your daily work
