We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Graduate Kotlin Backend Developer to join their team. You'll have the chance to work on the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power their platform, contributing to a robust and scalable FinTech solution.

Our approach for this graduate role focuses on your potential and foundational knowledge. We're particularly interested in understanding your Honours or Master's level university projects. The initial part of our selection process will involve a trial assessment:

  1. Project Review: Submission and review of your significant university project(s).
  2. Technical Discussion: A conversation with their CEO, where you'll chat through your project, your design choices, and your problem-solving approach.

This process helps us understand how you think and learn, which we value highly for graduate roles. A permanent position is the goal upon a successful outcome.

What You'll Be Working On (and learning!):

  • Developing and maintaining backend services and APIs for the platform.
  • Working with Kotlin (and potentially Java/Golang as our platform evolves) and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Interacting with our Postgres database.
  • Contributing to system design and architecture discussions.
  • Writing clean, testable, and efficient code.
  • Collaborating with front-end developers and other team members.
  • Utilising tools such as Gradle for builds, and Docker (docker-compose) for setting up development environments.
  • Working extensively with Git for version control.

What We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A strong academic record, with significant Honours or Master's level project work you're proud of and can discuss in detail.
  • Foundational programming skills, ideally with some exposure to Kotlin, Java, or Golang.
  • An understanding of backend development concepts (e.g., APIs, databases, server-side logic).
  • A genuine interest in learning and working with our specific tech stack: Spring Boot, Postgres, Gradle, Docker.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt - we don't expect you to know everything on day one, but a strong desire to grow is key.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Git.
  • An interest in FinTech and the drive to be part of a company making a significant impact in the financial services industry within the DIFC.

Trial Assessment Process:

Our process is designed to evaluate your foundational knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and potential:

  1. Application & Project Submission: Share your CV and details of your most relevant Honours or Master's project(s).
  2. Technical Discussion: If shortlisted, you'll have a technical conversation with the CEO. This will be an opportunity to walk through your project, discuss your technical decisions, challenges faced, and what you learned.
