Job Title: Full Stack Developer (AI + API-Focused)

Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time, Independent Contractor

Industry: Retail Compliance / Supply Chain / AI-Driven EDI

Reports To: Head of Engineering

About the Company

We’re a stealth-mode, AI-first startup reimagining Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for the modern retail supply chain. Our platform enables suppliers to achieve retail compliance with intelligent automation, streamlined agentic orchestration, and seamless API integrations. We’re a nimble, globally distributed team led by founders in Canada, and we’re building for scale.

As we grow, we’re looking for a Full Stack Developer with strong technical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset to help shape the future of supply chain automation.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain full-stack systems using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and AWS Lambda
  • Create and consume REST APIs to support EDI transactions (e.g., 852s, POs, ASNs, Invoices)
  • Architect backend services and Lambda functions with scalability and efficiency in mind
  • Collaborate on AI/LLM features (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), including agent workflows and automation
  • Build intuitive frontends using TailwindCSS and modern UI frameworks
  • Integrate with third-party ERP systems like NetSuite or CIN7 to streamline data flows
  • Contribute to the design of agentic orchestration systems that drive business logic and task automation
  • Take ownership of features and systems from concept through deployment

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Skills & Attributes

  • 3–6 years experience as a full-stack engineer, ideally in a startup or product-led environment
  • Advanced proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and React
  • Solid experience with AWS, especially Lambda-based architectures
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM APIs and hands-on integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of API design, integration patterns, and asynchronous systems
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills; strong communicator and team player
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and takes initiative

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with TailwindCSS and modern UI styling practices
  • Exposure to EDI systems, retail compliance, or supply chain platforms
  • Knowledge of ERP tools like NetSuite or CIN7
  • Familiarity with agentic workflows, LLM-based process orchestration, or vector databases
  • Startup experience preferred over FAANG-style enterprise backgrounds

Work Environment

  • Remote-first team with founders based in Canada
  • Preference for candidates in Latin America for time zone and budget alignment
  • Expectation of 6+ hours overlap with ET (Eastern Time)
  • Fast-paced, collaborative environment — flexibility and startup hustle required

Why Join Us?

  • Work on high-impact, AI-first software from day one
  • Help redefine how global suppliers handle compliance and automation
  • Build greenfield systems with a seasoned engineering lead
  • Long-term opportunity with a well-funded, globally-minded founding team

Hiring Process

  1. Initial screen with Somewhere.Com (shortlist + video intro)
  2. Technical interview with Surpass Engineering (coding + systems)
  3. Final call with leadership
  4. Offer & onboarding (via Surpass’s contractor agreement)
