Frontend Developer

Job Description

ChapinTech is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer with strong skills in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and functional knowledge of C#. This role is for a long-term engagement with a creative and fast-paced company that helps students and teachers around the world tell stories visually. You will be joining a small and collaborative team focused on optimizing and modernizing their web platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and enhance highly responsive, interactive front-end applications.
• Incrementally improve existing web applications.
• Identify and address usability, performance, scalability, and other issues as the application grows.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders in the U.S. to understand customer needs, refine requirements, and integrate systems.
• Ensure that all code meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

First 6 Months

• Optimize HTML page speed across the site.
• Ensure all pages are fully responsive and function well across different devices.
• Refactor pages to use a common set of layouts; update inconsistent pages accordingly.
• Replace React components with C#/Razor/HTML/JS as part of a strategic simplification initiative.

Qualifications

• English proficiency (both written and spoken) is required to communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in web application development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with C#, Visual Studio and ASP.net MVC.
• Familiarity with React is a plus.
• Experience building and maintaining responsive web applications.
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality work.
• Effective collaboration skills to work with remote teams and stakeholders.

Bonus Qualifications

• Prior experience using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Tabnine) to increase development productivity.
• Experience optimizing websites for speed and performance.
• Demonstrated ability to follow and apply modern front-end best practices.
