Senior Backend Engineer Python / Data Engineering (Remote, CST Preferred)
Location: Remote (within the USA) CST time zone preferred.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python expertise and a deep background in data engineering and backend services to support machine learning operations. This role will involve close collaboration with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to deploy and operationalize ML models at scale.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in Python (preferably 3.11+), cloud-based architectures (Azure preferred), and has hands-on experience building scalable, reliable backend systems and data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust backend systems using idiomatic Python 3.11+.
- Build, manage, and optimize data pipelines and services for machine learning workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Data Scientists to deploy, operationalize, and maintain ML models.
- Ensure backend systems meet scalability, performance, and reliability goals.
- Utilize cloud services for development and deployment (preferably Azure Machine Learning and Azure Data Factory).
- Participate in key technical meetings (occasional travel to DFW area may be required).
Required Skills And Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience with Python, ideally version 3.11 or newer.
- Strong hands-on experience with data engineering, including ETL pipelines and large-scale data processing.
- Proven experience integrating machine learning models into production environments.
- Solid knowledge of cloud technologies; Azure experience preferred.
- Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with Azure Machine Learning (AML) and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Familiarity with MLOps, DevOps, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automation for machine learning deployments.
Additional Information
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Position requires flexibility for occasional travel to DFW for important onsite meetings.
- Remote work is primarily expected, but alignment to CST hours is preferred for collaboration.
