Summary

The Assistant Director of Brand Marketing is responsible for overseeing CAF America’s brand across audiences, using our visual and editorial identity to communicate our value proposition and mission in a clear and compelling fashion. The Assistant Director will lead a dynamic team that is responsible for our creative design, content development, and events management, and will play a central role in strategic decision making for the larger Marketing team, including capacity and budget planning, team development, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and support to direct reports, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment and developing their team’s skills and capabilities.
  • As a manager, ensure clear and responsive goal setting with team members, providing timely feedback and support.
  • Implement and manage team workflows and processes to ensure efficiency and consistency in all team outputs.
  • Guide direct reports in developing content and narratives that speak to our defined audiences and align with our strategic priorities and editorial tone of voice.

Brand Management

  • Oversee the implementation of CAF brand guidelines, reviewing and advising on brand alignment both within the Marketing team and with internal stakeholders across the organization to build a more consistent brand identity.
  • Project manage collateral development and updates across audience and products, coordinating inputs from SMEs, alignment to established creative design and editorial guidelines, and approvals from leadership.
  • Write accessible, compelling copy for both long-form and short-form content.
  • Partner with leadership to coordinate external presence at events like industry conferences, speaking engagements, webinars; and lead the development of design work according to agreed upon directions.
  • Actively collaborate with brand and design colleagues across Charities Aid Foundation.
  • Responsible for tracking budget line items as assigned.

  • Must be eligible to work legally in the United States.
  • 3+ years experience managing a team or a similar role, with a proven ability to develop and lead remote staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a consistent visual brand identity and messaging across channels.
  • History of oversight on creative design, content creation, email marketing tools, and social media platforms.
  • Experience with cross-team collaboration, overseeing budgets, resource allocation, and coordinating successful projects/initiatives.
  • Capability to influence others through written communication, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Interest in the mentoring of and partnering with colleagues to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and timelines while being detail oriented.
  • Interest or experience in working in international philanthropy, grantmaking, and the nonprofit sector.

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Google Workspace

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in marketing, communications, journalism, or related fields highly desired; and four-to-five years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of work experience within the nonprofit sector, brand and communications, and content strategy field.
  • Experience in brand and communications, content strategy and marketing, or other marketing-oriented roles in Community Foundations, Fundraising, or a related nonprofit industry strongly preferred.

Salary Range - $75,000-$85,000
